Art reflection

It is almost the end of this art appreciation class. I still can not believe that the semester is over. I liked this new style of learning, instead of just reading and looking at the pictures in the book, we also went to many field trips. Besides that, the public art tour, was the most enjoyable trip I had during this semester. If I wouldn't make the public art tour, I wouldn't know many variety of art works surrounding Chicago Downtown. Moreover, the art journals helped me to analize about each piece of art. Also, it helps me to think about art more, and to relate it to my daily life. Each piece of art can be meaningful and unique depending in how the creator appreciattes it. On the other hand, the artist presentation, is going to be the most challenging project for me because I am not used to talk in public. But is good because it helps me to take those fears out and to talk in front of my class normaly, as I do. The reading guides are very effective because we have the most important concepts, so we don't have to go over the entire chapter again. To conclude, I am going to miss the trips to the museums because each museum we visit we learn visualizing the art works instead of looking at a picture in as is shown in the art book.

"Hope Hippo"2005Mud, whistle, daily newspaper, and live person, approximately 16 x 6 x 5 feet. Installation view: 51st Venice Biennale. Courtesy the artists.
Allora and Canzadilla emphasis in elements of the nature. For example in the work "Hope Hippo", represents everyone's opinion. Moreover, it affects someone's life depending in how a human will react to an opinion, or why a person will disagree with a certain opinion. It also, helps to not just take a side, but also to explain and to show effective reasons.

my te cup!

Art Diary # 5

My best friend surprised me with this cup. Besides that, she knew I like to drink te. This is a hand made chocolate cup. Furthermore, I use this cup everyday for drinking te. I did not have a special cup for drinking my te, such as this one. In comparison, this cup doesn't burn my fingers because the material is special for hot te , chocolate and water. In fact, I am delighted with this cup. I like this stylish cup and the shape is unique. This is a meaningful and valuable dark chocolate cup. In contrast, it is not a simple typical round cup that you can get it easily and anywhere. ^^

Snoopy ^^

Art Diary # 4

This is my ''Snoopy'' diary from 2005. I used to collect a diary every year. I like to collect pictures of my friends and me. In this agenda, I copied all my homework, but also I used it for writing my personal secrets. I also, collected my friends' mails, and even dried roses. Personally, this agenda was like my "best friend". At home, I have 2 more agendas. They both are thicker than this one. The reason that I collected my agendas was because they are like memories for me. Everytime I look at my friends' mails and pictures, its reminds me the old good times we had. In fact, these agendas were part of my daily life in art because I tried to use new ideas for decorating them.

balloons

Art Diary # 3

Before leaving the school today, I saw these balloons or globes decorating the doors. The people who decorated these balloons used a special type of invisible thread. The balloons are tied and followed by a sequence one black and another yellow, forming an arch. On the bottom sides, the balloons are smaller. Also, at the bottom sides there a couple of tiny tube balloons surrounding the small babies balloons. The decoration of the tube balloons stand out. I was facinated with the balloons' colors. These are the same colors(black and yellow) I used in my class of '07! Mainly, the colors caught my attention. I just thought about my art journal. In fact, these kind of art works helps people to increase their creativity in their daily lives.

my portraits

Art Diary # 1

I was observing the portraits that I have inmy room. I paint and designed the decorations. I like both of them pretty much. Also I tried to find a picture to math each portrait's style. Such as the one with purple lines, black blackgroud and little red flowers. The red flowers goes with the color of my dress as is shown in the picture. The another portrait is based on a lot of tiny lines, and a little degradation of brown and white colors, and the last detail or complement was the orange flowers. I did those two portraits during spring break, two years ago when I was in High School. Finally, in the last portraid I used a red construction paper. Then, I bent and started drawing the stars and moons and some curve lines. I added two black papers and I cut two flowers from a Geography magazine. I also added"Best Friend 4Ever" that's in the right side and in the left side it says"Happy Valentine's Day". Although I never gave that card to her, because at that time we were mad at each other. I wanted to reconcile with her, but I never had the bravery of saying "sorry" first. Then I kept the card. Till, New Year she came to my house and saw it.

Magdalena Abakanowicz (Agora)

Michelle and I had an art trip last thursday, during sprink break. That day was sunny, warm and a little windy. We started exploring the arts from Millenium park. Then we stopped by the "Cloud Gate", and we had a lot of fun taking pictures. After we finished our tour in Millenium Park, then we walked down to the Agore. In our way walking to "Agora", we were contemplating all the marvelous art works in Chicago such as the sculture of (Ivan Mestrovic) "The Bowman". Although we forgot to take a picture with that sculpture. Finally, when we were almost there in the "Agora". I was so impressed about those gigant sculpture"Agora". In fact, I knew they were so huge, but not that giant. I wonder if the irons used for bulding those sculture "Agora" were oxidized or the artist paint them with a dark brown color? Furthermore, art work that I had liked was the "Miro's Chicago". The bottom part has a bell's shape, and the top part looked like a fork. To conclude, from this art trip I have learned to appreciate more the beauty of art works in Chicago city. I recommend this trip to all the visitors who will be interested to look at art works because there are many adventurous things to explore.

A modernist texture

A Modernist Texture
by Jamie Geller Dutra

The artist made a piece of texture. Inside is shown shapes leaves using the secondary colors green and purple. She used the paintbrush for pointing the little pink stains are like the the petals falling during spring. The biggest leaves balance with the little purple ones. But since is a little piece of mural if might be better hold in case it can flies, it is a sensitive piece of art texture.
The artist tries to communicate the appropriate colors wether a person could wear in different season. For examples, these colors are more suitable for the winter time.
It is a successful piece of art because it represents part of the envioronment that we all are living and related to the nature.

Fashionable women

Two Vain Fashionable Women~!!

This is a picture that I created 4 months ago when I was interested to study fashion designer. Besides that, I've always wanted to be involved in something about fashion, even fashion merchandise or fashion marketing. However, I chose to study fashion designer because I wanted to learn the basic skills and then after that to create my own clothing style. In comparison, if I would chose fashion merchandise or marketing i would ended up working in a boutique as an employee, and for it a person doesn't need a lot of studies. Also, I really wanted to find out if that was the right path for me or not. So, I decided to start drawing. This is the only picture I draw and it took me 2 hours making it. In fact, I gave up to my dreams, and I chose another major that I could find an easier and more secure job. After all, a fashion designer career wasn't that easy because after I have learned the skills; I will have to use my own ideas and creativity(produce). It is a lot of thinking too. In summary, I decided to challenge myself by drawing before applying for Columbia College. I could wasted my time and money for the general courses for fashion designer, so it was a good thing that I realized it earlier by drawings.
